Qualifications

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff.
• Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
• Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative healthcare and provide follow up actions.
• Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform venipuncture and in-house laboratory tests and prepare forms for outside labs; call owners with results.
• Provide and monitor nursing care as directed by veterinarian, including medications and monitoring.
• Admit and discharge patients following protocols; educate clients on admit/discharge.
• Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, and wards as requested.
• Use practice software for dispensing medications, patient foods, labels, and record-keeping as directed by veterinarian.
• Ensure OSHA regulations and safety standards are followed.
• Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
