Suveto is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for Heart of Chelsea in New York, NY. You will support veterinarians and technicians in daily hospital activities, ensuring compassionate client service and patient care.

Responsibilities include patient handling, basic lab tests, triage support, emergency procedures, and maintaining clean, organized treatment areas. The role emphasizes accuracy in medical records and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Assist veterinarians and technicians under supervision.
• Maintain patient records and document observations clearly.
• Assist with treatments, pain scoring, and vital signs as directed.

Responsibilities

• Provide, monitor, and document husbandry needs (cleanliness, nutrition, bedding).
• Assist with patient handling and diagnostic test setup; admit/discharge as directed.
• Support emergency dept. procedures, triage, and CPR as directed.
• Transport patients within and out of the hospital.
• Clean and sterilize surgical equipment and prepare instruments.
• Run basic in-house lab tests (snap tests, PCV/TS, urine).
• Communicate patient status to doctors/techs; contribute to care plans.
• Provide aftercare per owner wishes; report concerns to staff.
• Follow OSHA and hospital policies; keep areas clean and stocked.
• Maintain legible, accurate patient records per policy.
