Job summary

Heart of Chelsea Veterinary Group in Hell's Kitchen, New York, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. You will support the veterinarian and veterinary technician, prepare exam rooms, and provide excellent client service in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• Experience in a veterinary hospital preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate nature and love for animals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist during appointments with doctors.
• Take history from client and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative healthcare and provide follow-up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform venipuncture, in-house labs, and process outside lab forms.
• Provide and monitor nursing care as directed by veterinarian.
• Admit and discharge patients following hospital protocols and educate clients.
• Clean and restock exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Operate practice software for dispensing medications and charting.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
• Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
