Job summary

CityVet Davenport is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The VA will help the Veterinarian by preparing patients for procedures, restraining animals as needed, and supporting client communication throughout visits.

Responsibilities include sample collection, running basic tests, administering medications, and ensuring high standards of patient care. A minimum of 1 year in a veterinary setting is preferred; compensation is based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years old at hire.
• At least 1 year veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to restrain animals safely and calmly.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medications.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height; frequent standing, bending and walking.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians by prepping patients for surgery and post-op monitoring.
• Obtain samples (stool, blood, etc.) for testing.
• Run tests and help interpret results.
• Administer prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other treatments.
• Provide client care instructions and information about their pet's plan.
• Support the Client Service Specialist team when needed.
