Job summary

Bay Beach Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, and treatments. You will engage with clients, manage medical records, and help ensure compassionate care for all patients and their pets.

The role requires strong communication and the ability to handle animals safely in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in a veterinary setting, high school diploma, and comfort with basic software and payments processing.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in a veterinary or animal care setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer proficiency, including practice management software and Microsoft Office.
• Previous experience working with animals preferred; veterinary background valued.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals safely.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate, professional care to patients and clients at all times.
• Assists the veterinarian during exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Safely restrains animals using low-stress handling techniques.
• Administers medications, draws up vaccines, collects lab samples, and runs basic tests.
• Maintains accurate medical records and processes client payments.
• Keeps exam rooms and hospital spaces clean, stocked, and organized.
• Communicates clearly with clients and the team.
