Job summary

Bay Beach Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, and treatments. You will assist with procedures, restrain animals safely, and ensure compassionate client communication throughout visits.

You will maintain medical records, educate clients on vaccines and treatments, and help with billing and check-out while upholding high standards of cleanliness and organization. A flexible schedule is required to cover all open hours.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in veterinary or animal care preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer proficiency, including practice management software and Microsoft Office.
• Previous experience with animals preferred; veterinary/animal care background valued.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals up to 130 pounds.
• Flexible schedule to support hospital hours.
• Professional, neat appearance consistent with hospital standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate, professional care to patients and clients.
• Communicates clearly with clients, doctors and team members; answers phones and routes inquiries.
• Assists veterinarian during exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries.
• Safely restrains animals using low-stress handling techniques.
• Administers medications, collects lab samples, and performs basic lab tests.
• Maintains accurate treatment plans and medical records.
