Job summary

VetnCare is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and RVTs, delivering outstanding patient and client care in a busy hospital in El Dorado Hills, California.

You will perform exams, vaccines, blood draws, lab work, record-keeping, and assist with surgery, anesthesia, and reception duties. Must have 1–2 years' experience and strong phlebotomy and communication skills. Full-time, four 10-hour shifts, Monday–Saturday.

Qualifications

• Must have 1–2 years’ Veterinary Assistant experience.
• Strong phlebotomy skills.
• Experience placing IV catheters.
• Experience running in-house laboratory diagnostics.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Compassionate approach to patient care.
• Positive attitude and collaborative team spirit.

Responsibilities

• Preparing exam rooms and obtaining patient histories.
• Providing compassionate patient care and nursing support.
• Administering vaccines.
• Assisting with treatments, diagnostics and anaesthesia.
• Supporting surgical procedures.
• Performing blood draws and running laboratory samples.
• Maintaining accurate medical records.
• Assisting with client communication and education.
• Supporting reception duties when required, including scheduling appointments, answering phones and checking clients in and out.
• Helping maintain a clean, organised and efficient hospital.
