Job summary

Town & Country Veterinary Hospital in Winchester, TN seeks a Kennel Assistant to care for pets during grooming and boarding visits. You will admit patients, follow client instructions, and ensure cleanliness and safety throughout the facility.

Responsibilities include walking animals, feeding, and monitoring health indicators under supervision. Weekend availability and basic veterinary experience are preferred; OSHA PPE safety practices must be followed at all times.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability is required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts as needed.
• Follow OSHA safety practices including proper PPE.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients visiting for grooming and/or boarding.
• Record client instructions, contact details, and pickup time.
• Note feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during visits.
• Observe patient condition and report concerns to staff.
• Properly restrain challenging patients when needed.
• Walk patients regularly for exercise and bathroom breaks.
• Provide food and fluids as appropriate to dietary needs.
• Ensure patients are clean and ready for discharge with belongings.
• Maintain kennel cleanliness, disinfecting areas and equipment.
• Launder towels and blankets; manage waste and trash.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
