Job summary

East End Disability Associates, Inc. (EEDA) seeks a reliable Van Route Driver to transport adults with developmental disabilities to and from day programs from the Riverhead location.

The role emphasizes passenger safety, customer service, and a respectful environment. You will safely operate a company van along assigned routes, assist passengers, ensure proper restraints, and maintain accurate trip logs while following traffic laws and agency policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 1 year driving experience, preferably passenger transport.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Must pass background checks and motor vehicle record review.
• SCIP, AMAP, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a company van along assigned routes and schedules.
• Transport individuals with developmental disabilities to designated locations.
• Assist passengers with boarding/exiting vehicles and use of lifts or restraints.
• Ensure all passengers are properly secured with seatbelts or mobility device restraints.
• Maintain trip logs, attendance records and incident reports.
• Communicate effectively with program staff, caregivers and supervisors.
• Respond to emergencies or behavioral situations according to training.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.
