Job summary

Hasc Center, Inc. in Brooklyn seeks a compassionate driver to safely transport adults and youths with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to day habilitation and after-school programs. You will operate a passenger van on scheduled routes and assist passengers with care and respect.

The role offers a steady weekday, part-time schedule with local Brooklyn routes. You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, communicate with dispatch and families, and maintain a clean, welcoming

Qualifications

• Valid standard driver's license with a clean MVR (no CDL required).
• Punctual, patient, and safety-focused with strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
• Ability to physically assist passengers as needed, manage routes efficiently, and maintain a calm, welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a passenger van on scheduled routes to transport adults and youth with disabilities to and from day programs, after-school programs, and community locations.
• Perform safe passenger assistance, including operating wheelchair lifts (if applicable), and oversee boarding/alighting with care and respect.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the van.
• Follow all state, local, and agency safety procedures, traffic laws, and complete required route documentation.
• Communicate professionally with dispatch, program staff, families, and passengers.
