Job summary

Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia, IA is hiring a part-time Van Driver to safely transport residents to appointments and activities. You will assist with boarding, wheelchair securement, and ensure timely pickups and drop-offs while maintaining a clean vehicle and communicating with nursing staff.

Ideal candidates are at least 21, hold a Class D driver’s license, and have CPR/first aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
• No more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
