Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus is seeking a Unit Secretary for Per Diem shifts (12-hour day shifts, 7am–7pm). Compensation is $22.00 per hour. The role involves clerical support for patient care units, transcription of orders, coordinating transport and follow-up tests, and front-desk communications.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience with medical files and terminology. Per Diem status with potential for advancement is noted.

Qualifications

• Strong clerical and transcription abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units with independent judgment.
• Transcribe orders accurately and file reports; arrange transportation and follow-up tests.
• Answer and relay messages by phone or in person; maintain communication with Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork promptly.
• Order supplies from Materials Management as needed.
• Verify physician privileges before transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts accurately.
• Arrange patient transport for tests not offered on-site.
