Job summary

Jennings Center for Older Adults is seeking a Driver to transport campus clients, residents, and tenants on regular and special trips. You will perform pre-trip inspections, operate wheelchair lifts, and ensure passenger safety with seat belts and secure locks.

You will keep vehicles clean and follow all corporate safety policies. Requires a valid driver's license, 2 years of licensed driving experience, a High School diploma or GED, and CPR/First Aid training.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have 2 years of licensed driving experience.
• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must have completed CPR/First Aid training.
• Must possess a safe driving record in accordance with current insurance underwriting standards - no more than 4 active points on the record.
• Has the physical ability necessary to transport physically impaired persons, including persons in wheelchairs.
• Has the ability to learn individualized transfer and assistance techniques.
• Has the interpersonal skill necessary to work with older adults, children, family members, and staff.
• Exercises excellent judgment regarding vehicle operations and client safety.
• DRIVE training is required within 1 year prior to hire or 3 months following hire.
• PAT must be completed within 6 months prior to hire or within the first year of employment.
• Defensive Driving Course is required within 1 year prior to hire or 3 months following hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport campus clients, residents and tenants to and from Jennings Center.
• Transport clients on scheduled program trips.
• Perform pre-trip inspections daily and complete the inspection sheet.
• Safely operate vehicle wheelchair lift and secure passengers.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and report issues.
• Attend in-service training programs as required.
