Job summary

SIERRA TRIBAL CONSORTIUM INC in Fresno, CA is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to support clients with addiction treatment, develop individualized plans, and provide group therapy. You will manage a manageable caseload, identify recovery barriers, and offer resources to help clients achieve recovery goals.

The ideal candidate is compassionate with strong communication skills and experience with substance abuse.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure for counseling (CA or applicable state).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Experience with substance use treatment preferred.
• Able to sit for long periods and operate a computer.
• Provide services at both locations.
• Stand/walk up to 15-20% of time; lift up to 30-50 lbs occasionally.
• HIPAA compliance and privacy knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to assess substance issues and identify recovery barriers.
• Write treatment and recovery plans.
• Educate clients on coping mechanisms.
• Conduct group therapy sessions.
• Lead outreach addiction education programs and support groups.
• Track and analyze patient progress.
• Update the legal system about patient progress.
• Help clients plan for discharge from facilities.
• Communicate with clients and families.
• Develop patient crisis management plans.
