Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Special Needs Childcare Assistant to provide one-on-one support for a child in Welkom, Free State. You will assist with daily living, education, and therapeutic activities, under specialists’ guidance, to promote independence and well-being.

Comfort with safety, empathy, and teamwork is essential. This role offers ongoing guidance and a structured schedule in a supportive care team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with special needs
• Understanding of various special needs conditions and support strategies
• Patience, empathy and a genuine desire to help others
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and implement care plans
• Willingness to undergo background checks

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to a child with special needs following a care plan
• Assist with personal care routines including feeding and mobility
• Implement prescribed therapeutic and educational activities under guidance
• Monitor well-being and progress, report changes to the care team
• Ensure a safe, hazard-free environment for the child
• Engage the child in age-appropriate activities to promote development
• Maintain records of care, activities, and progress
• Communicate with parents, therapists, and other staff
