Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate caregiver for elderly clients to work in Welkom, Free State, SA. The role focuses on in-home support, companionship, and daily living assistance to help clients maintain independence and dignity.

The caregiver will provide personal care, meal support, safety monitoring, and companionship, while following care plans and maintaining clear communication with families and the agency.

Qualifications

• Experience as a caregiver, preferably with elderly clients.
• Certificate in Basic Nursing or Home-Based Care is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of basic caregiving principles and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with seniors.
• Patience, empathy, responsibility and reliability.
• Able to follow care plans and instructions.
• Willing to undergo a background check and provide references.
• Ability to work independently in a client’s home in Welkom.
• Understanding of elderly needs in the Free State region is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding if needed.
• Provide medication reminders and ensure adherence.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry.
• Offer companionship and social engagement to reduce loneliness.
• Accompany clients to appointments and community activities.
• Monitor health and report changes to agency/family.
• Assist with mobility and transfers as advised by professionals.
• Maintain a safe home environment for the client.
• Document care provided and notable events in logs.
