Job summary

AHRC New York City invites applications for Staten Island Preparatory Special Education School Aide. This part-time role runs Monday through Friday with hours from 9 AM to 2 PM, plus a 2:30 PM option, under a 10-month program including a 30-day summer session.

Responsibilities include following the daily schedule, supporting IEP objectives, providing direct care as needed, and assisting with arrivals, dismissals, and activities inside and outside the classroom.

Currently seeking a School Aide for Staten Island Preparatory in Tottenville.

Role Description:

• Part Time | Monday-Friday
• Hours: 9A.M - 2 P.M /2:30P.M
• 10 month program with a 30 day summer session
• Responsibilities include:

Under the direction of the Teacher/ Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.

Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner so as to provide the basis of future independent student action.

Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.

Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.

Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan)
