Job summary

Burke seeks a Residential Assistant to support adults with IDD in a residential group home in Texas. You will assist with daily living activities, provide active treatment, and help residents build independence and daily life skills.

This role includes night shifts on a rotating schedule (10:30 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.) and requires compassion, reliability, and teamwork with an interdisciplinary staff. A high school diploma and Texas driver’s license are required, with training provided by Burke.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and patient demeanor.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to providing quality care in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, supervision, and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist residents with daily living activities and personal care as needed.
• Provide active treatment according to individualized service plans.
• Assist the Day Programmer with scheduled active treatment activities.
• Promote a safe, positive, and home-like living environment.
• Ensure the residence meets Life Safety and Health standards.
• Complete daily documentation, including activity notes, medication inventory records, and progress reports.
• Complete additional documentation as needed.
• Work collaboratively with clinical staff and other professionals to support resident goals.
