Job summary

Grace Management, Inc. seeks a Resident Care Assistant to provide physical and psychosocial care to residents in a senior living community.

The RCA reports to the shift supervisor and the Wellness Director and collaborates with the wellness team to promote dignity and independence. Responsibilities include assistance with activities of daily living, maintaining safety, documenting care, and communicating changes to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Certification by state approved program, if required.
• Satisfactory completion of Resident Assistant skills competency checklist.
• Be in good physical health and free of communicable diseases; lifting, bending, and pushing medication cart about residence is required.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Completion of drug testing and criminal background check upon hire and upon request of supervisor.
• Experience in Assisted Living preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and services to assigned residents and assist other wellness department associates as needed.
• Work collaboratively with peers and other team members.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, hygiene, toileting, eating, mobility).
• Maintain professional demeanor with residents and families.
• Report suspected or witnessed abuse to licensed staff immediately.
• Use safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility.
• Washes residents’ laundry as needed.
• Document provision of services on company forms.
• Operate designated medical equipment, copy, scan, fax machines, and telephone.
• Escort residents and coordinate internal transportation needs.
• Assist residents with personal correspondence/telephone use when requested.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to Wellness Director or supervisor.
• Conduct room checks and resident rounds.
• Monitor environmental safety hazards.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and calmly; report to supervisor.
• Use tactful, diplomatic communication in sensitive situations.
• Follow up on complaints and concerns.
