Job summary

University Health in San Antonio, TX is seeking a patient care assistant to support Psychiatry Services. You will assist with patient preparation and treatment procedures for acute and non-acute illnesses, and help maintain a therapeutic milieu through clear, compassionate communication.

The role requires a high school diploma or higher, one year of psychiatric experience, may substitute college credit for experience, and phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required.
• One year of experience in a psychiatric setting required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must have current American Heart Association BLS and Healthcare Provider cards.
• Must obtain CBHT, CMHT within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Psychiatry Services and nursing staff with patient preparation and treatment procedures for acute and non-acute illnesses or injuries.
• Perform routine patient care in a psychiatric environment.
• Assist in maintaining the therapeutic milieu by using effective communication skills.
• Perform clerical duties related to patient care management.
