Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services at Catawba Hospital in Virginia is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and participate in treatment plans.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, observing and reporting changes to licensed staff, documenting care, and helping with admissions and transitions while adhering to policies and recovery-focused approaches.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide patient care under supervision of licensed staff and/or Lead CNA.
• Follow instructions and report observations to licensed nurse in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates competencies as defined on Competency Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned patients with ADLs according to treatment plan.
• Observe, report, and document changes in patient status to licensed staff.
• Escort patients to departments, meals, and outside hospital per protocols.
• Complete assignments according to policy and procedures.
• Provide CS0 as assigned.
• Participate in therapeutic activities and groups.
• Apply Recovery Model principles in care.
