Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our patient-first healthcare team. You will collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, ensure proper labeling, and help deliver safe, accurate care with empathy and precision.

The role requires travel to various locations within the enterprise, adherence to safety procedures, and strong communication to comfort anxious patients. Day shifts from 8:00am–5:00pm are typical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of current phlebotomy experience.
• Experienced and proficient in blood collection from all patient populations.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (upon hire or within six months of employment).
• Current, valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
• Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
• Travel to various locations within the enterprise.
• Complete and submit appropriate administrative paperwork and log sheets, such as time and mileage reports.
• Be flexible to work at assigned locations and hours that are in need of coverage. Location may vary daily and be determined with minimal notice.
• Follow proper laboratory safety procedures.
