Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within facility policy timeframe.
• Six months acute care phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood specimens.
• Labels, logs, and processes specimens according to protocols.
• Prepares collection trays and restocks work areas.
• Provides instructions to patients regarding collection procedures and tests.
• Monitors patient condition during and after collection.
• Documents collection in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Assists with filing, data entry, and patient records management.
• Ensures compliance with infection control and safety standards.
• Responds to inquiries about laboratory services.
• Participates in training and quality assurance.
