Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures and specimen collection with accurate labeling and documentation. You will prepare specimens for testing, maintain clean work areas, and adhere to infection control protocols while interacting professionally with patients.

The role requires knowledge of collection techniques, strong communication, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within timeframe required by facility policy.
• Six (6) months of acute care phlebotomy experience or one (1) year experience in outpatient lab setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood specimens.
• Properly label, log, and process specimens per protocols.
• Prepare collection trays and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
• Provide clear instructions to patients on collection procedures and tests.
• Monitor patient condition during and after collection for safety.
• Document specimen collection in LIS.
• Assist with clerical tasks including filing and data entry.
• Comply with infection control and safety protocols in all interactions.
• Respond to inquiries about laboratory services and tests.
• Participate in training, QA, and continuing education as required.
