Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and assist residents under supervision, following regulatory and company standards. The role focuses on daily living activities, safety, and compassionate support across our long-term care settings.

You'll work as part of a team, with responsibilities including hygiene, mobility assistance, meal preparation, and reporting changes in residents' conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker program (or provincial equivalent with 600 hours theory & practicum).
• Experience working with seniors in community health services.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Solid organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to perform personal care duties and support daily living activities.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as determined by supervisor.
• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in resident conditions to supervisor.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to residents.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation.
• Prepare nutritious meals as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Respond to concerns and escalate as needed within authority.
