Job summary

MaineGuide in United States is seeking a compassionate Personal Support Specialist (PSS) to assist clients with daily living activities, monitor health, and promote independence in a community setting. This in-person role offers a flexible schedule and pays $21.00–$23.00 per hour.

You will work with clients, document care, and follow HIPAA guidelines while ensuring safety and dignity. Experience with ADLs, mobility support, meal prep, and transportation is valued.

Duties

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
• Administer medication and assist with medication management following care plans and HIPAA regulations
• Support clients during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while ensuring safety protocols are followed
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient care, observations, and progress in compliance with privacy standards
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings to promote independence

Requirements

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and bathroom needs.
• Mobility Support: Help clients transfer between beds and chairs, walk with canes or walkers, or use lifts.
• Meal & Household Support: Prepare meals, handle light housekeeping, do laundry, and run authorized errands.
• Health Observation: Monitor and document changes in a client's physical or mental behavior and report safety hazards.
• Transportation: Drive clients to appointments or go grocery shopping when outlined in the care plan.
• Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent (some positions require specific state-certified PSS training programs).
• Driver's License: Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and auto insurance, as travel between client homes is typically required.
• Background Check: Clean criminal history with no record of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
