Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients safely between units and diagnostic areas under the supervision of the RN. Duties include transporting patients by gurney, bed or wheelchair, delivering blood products and specimens, and responding to code blue and code stroke calls as directed.

Emphasis on safety, infection control, and teamwork. Minimum education requires reading/writing at an 8th grade level; High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications

• Must read and write at an 8th grade level; testing required.
• Preferred High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred 1 year of acute care hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transfers, turning and positioning of patients.
• Transport patients via gurney, bed or wheelchair.
• Pickup and deliver blood products to units; deliver specimens to lab.
• Respond to Code Blue and Code Stroke emergencies as directed by RN/MD.
• Maintain safety and infection control; promote teamwork.
