Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a patient transport teammate to move patients, equipment, and specimens across the hospital campus while following strict safety and identification protocols.

The role requires ability to lift and assist with moving patients and equipment, with attention to infection control and proper storage of stretchers and wheelchairs. Vaccination against influenza is required by the employer.

Qualifications

• Read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to read, understand English, and have basic arithmetic skills normally acquired through high school or GED equivalency.
• Capable of routine heavy lifting, pushing, bending, carrying, and walking constantly.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine patient transport between nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors' suites, morgue, and other areas of the hospital.
• Transports blood and other specimens on a Stat and routine basis.
• Delivers patient equipment, supplies, audiovisual equipment, and exchanges gas tanks as needed.
• Receives direction from Transport Supervisor, Dispatcher, or designee.
• Ensures all stretchers and wheelchairs are properly stored after each use.
• Ensures linen is removed and 02 bottles are secured after each use.
• Disinfects stretcher pads and wheelchairs before and after patients on precautions.
• Follows established protocols in patient identification.
