Job summary

Trinity Health Brighton in Brighton, Michigan, is seeking a part-time Hospital Transporter to move patients safely within the hospital, from care areas to diagnostic testing and back to inpatient units. Responsibilities include assisting with patient transfers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety during transports, while keeping current BLS certification up to date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED recommended.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Healthcare experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Transport stable, non-monitored patients from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/testing areas and to inpatient units for admissions.
• Communicate effectively with the patient, family, visitors, and the direct care providers.
• Speak with the RN or Healthcare Provider prior to a transport and when the patient returns to the unit.
• Assist the patient with restroom needs as necessary.
• Safely transfer patients using transfer devices such as a patient sling, slide board, or other hospital approved transfer devices.
• Clean transport equipment between each patient use.
• Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, oxygen, and other necessary equipment to perform transports.
• Replace oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).
• Provide directions to families and/or visitors.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.
