Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Hospital Patient Transporter to move patients within Patewood Memorial Hospital, ensuring safe and efficient transport between units and departments.

You will document transport assignments, maintain logs, and assist with equipment handling, while adhering to policy and safety standards. Training and in-service sessions are part of the role to ensure quality care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable of fire and disaster procedure and codes, including location and operation of fire extinguishing equipment.
• Knows appropriate action to take in the event a patient becomes distressed.
• Able to complete all training requirements as outlined in the department orientation program.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, via wheelchair, stretcher, bed, mobilizer, wagon or ambulation; with attached apparatus including IVs and oxygen.
• Receive and document transportation assignments; maintain admitting log, sign-in book, nursing station log and trip tickets; perform telephone activities.
• Assist in maintenance and cleaning of equipment and ensure safety and compliance with policies.
• Attend in-service education and scheduled departmental staff meetings.
• Report accidents, unusual occurrences, and complaints to the appropriate person.
