Job summary

Chapters Health System is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport elderly, disabled, or medically fragile patients to medical facilities and day centers. The role requires knowledge of patient handling, basic medical equipment, and defensive driving, with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include assisting passengers, operating specialty vehicles, maintaining safety, coordinating routes, and reporting any changes or concerns to the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience transporting elderly, disabled, or medically fragile individuals preferred.
• Knowledge of local metro area preferred.
• Healthcare or patient transport experience desirable.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Current CPR certification (First Aid/AED preferred).
• Completion of required dementia or population-specific training, as applicable by program/state.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients and participants using defensive driving techniques.
• Assist passengers on and off the vehicle using proper body mechanics and approved transfer techniques.
• Operate specialty vehicles and ensure cleanliness and safety of the transport environment.
• Follow established schedules and adjust routes to accommodate changes while maintaining efficiency and safety.
• Utilize communication systems to coordinate transportation activities.
• Interact professionally with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff.
