Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health seeks a Patient Safety Companion at Springfield Regional Medical Center to provide supportive patient care under RN guidance, ensuring a safe environment and smooth communication within the healthcare team.

The role emphasizes collaboration, compassion, and adherence to safety standards, with a preference for candidates experienced in healthcare settings and holding BLS certification (or willing to obtain).

Qualifications

• Recent experience in a healthcare environment.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred or must obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Ability to clearly communicate and follow directions within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the patient including, but not limited to, care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
• Creates a safe environment for patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors, and all employees.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
