Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Sitter to observe and assist in nursing assistant level tasks for an assigned patient population. The role observes 15-minute monitoring, reports observations to the licensed nurse, and supports patient safety and family-centered care within policy, under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma, at least one year of direct patient care experience or nursing student status with clinical rotation, and approved certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of direct patient care experience or nursing student with at least one clinical rotation.
• English language proficiency sufficient for patient safety communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient observation and safety, including 15-minute monitoring.
• Assist with basic ADLs within defined scope under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Communicate observations to the nursing team and document as required.
• Support patient-family centered care and a safe care environment.
