Job summary

Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, is hiring immediately for full time and part time Patient Observation Assistant roles at University of Kentucky, Lexington. You will provide visual and audible observation of assigned patients under RN direction and unit manager.

Shifts run 6:30 am–7:00 pm and 6:30 pm–7:00 am; prior healthcare and customer service experience is preferred. The role emphasizes safety, confidentiality, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• CPR AED or BLS-HCP certification required within 30 days of hire, if required at the facility.
• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• One to two years of previous healthcare/customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visually and audibly monitors the assigned patient's condition and behavior at all times.
• Completes observation reports at established intervals.
• Interacts with staff, patients, visitors and colleagues in a compassionate, supportive manner.
• Remains at the bedside of the patient unless relieved by a staff member.
• Assists with calming and reorienting patients and with safety concerns.
• Escalates to medical staff when distress or danger is detected.
• Participates in hand-offs and coordinates around meal breaks with nurses.
