Job summary

Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Group company, is hiring Patient Observation Assistants for full-time and part-time roles at Inova Fairfax, Falls Church, VA. The position involves visual and audible patient observation under RN direction, with rotating weekends and varied hours.

Training is provided, and prior customer service experience is preferred. Pay rate is $18.36 per hour, with benefits for full-time and opportunities to grow within our EVS and healthcare support teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Current CPR AED or BLS-HCP certification required within 30 days of hire, if required at the facility.
• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Lift up to 50 pounds.
• One to two years of previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the assigned patient visually and audibly at all times.
• Completes observation reports at established intervals.
• Remains at the bedside unless relieved by staff.
• Redirects patient from at-risk behaviors and escalates when needed.
• Participates in hand-off of pertinent information at shift changes.
• Assists with keeping the patient’s room safe and orderly.
• Responds quickly to emergencies and follows department procedures.
