Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ hospital-based collections or patient accounts experience.
• Must obtain Certified Application Counselor and Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility credentials.
• Proficient with office technology including phones, printers, scanners, and MS Word/Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Explain account balances, payment options, and available financial assistance to patients and families.
• Monitor self-pay accounts to ensure timely, ethical collections.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial billing policies.
• Apply the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in all collection efforts.
• Serve as a Certified Application Counselor and support presumptive Medicaid eligibility screening.
