Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, entering diet information into the computer system, passing meal trays, feeding and attending to other care needs.
• Responds promptly to patient call lights and special needs, ensures patient valuables are properly handled, and accounted for.
• Greets all persons in the area, answers inquiries, may direct and assist them, takes and relays messages, assists with gifts, flowers, and mail for patients, and runs errands for department staff.
• Ambulates patients and assists with transfers in and out of wheelchairs, measures intakes and outputs, and may collect specimens.
• Answers telephone, operates paging system, and attends station during emergencies.
• Prepares requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services and coordinates appointments.
• Makes outpatient appointments for discharging patients and handles related clerical tasks.
• Requests services such as Chaplain, social services, and pastoral care.
