Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care and multi-skill support on the Springfield unit. You will assist with hygiene, mobility, monitoring, and bedside tasks, including phlebotomy and EKGs under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen handling, care coordination, and effective communication with the care team to ensure patient safety and quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading and writing in English.
• Ability to maintain professional composure in medium to high-stress situations.
• Effective communication skills with patients and team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene, mobility, and monitoring.
• Perform bedside tasks and assist with phlebotomy and EKGs as assigned.
• Manage equipment and assist with procedures under RN guidance.
• Record vital signs, weights, and intake/output accurately.
• Assist with treatment plans and unit-based procedures.
• Support with specimen labeling and timely submission.
• Communicate clearly with the team and patients about care.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain patient safety.
• Assist team members with clinical and non-clinical activities.
• Demonstrate competencies for career ladder and observation.
• Participate in one-to-one patient observation as required.
