Job summary

Bon Secours in Portsmouth, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Maryview Medical Center. The PCT provides basic health care and support under RN supervision, cleans rooms, monitors vital signs, and assists with basic needs.

Key tasks include patient care, reporting changes to nurses, documenting care, assisting mobility, and fostering patient independence. BLS certification is preferred, with training options available.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR STNA/CNA or nurse aide state testing OR nursing program with clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize and clean patient rooms and monitor patients' health and vital signs.
• Assist patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.
• Report changes to the nurse and document care accurately.
• Assist with mobility and daily activities as needed.
• Provide high-level customer service to patients and families.
