Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist nursing staff with basic patient care, vital signs, and daily living activities in an acute care setting. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with the care team.

The PCT will support meals and hygiene, assist with mobility, and document clinical observations under RN/LPN supervision. BCLS is required within 90 days of hire; CNA or CPCT credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred
• BCLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire required
• CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant preferred or CPCT - Certified Patient Care Technician preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in delivering care and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Collects and records vital signs, intake/output, and calorie counts; reports results to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Supports patients with meals, hygiene, mobility, and use of mobility aids.
• Assists with positioning, ambulation, and use of walkers or wheelchairs.
• Collects specimens and performs finger-stick glucose monitoring; documents results.
• Communicates patient information to the care team and maintains professionalism.
• Adheres to infection control and PPE protocols, participates in safety initiatives.
• May be required to visually observe patients continuously as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Follows all policies and standards.
