Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic health care and support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. You will sanitize and clean patient rooms, monitor health and vital signs, and assist with feeding and grooming as part of our compassionate team.

The role emphasizes high-quality patient care, strong communication with nurses and families, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
• Preference for the setting you are applying to.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain before direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, and hygiene.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
• Participates in hand-offs for patient and department needs on arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Assists with patient mobility and independence.
