Job summary

Mercy Health’s Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to deliver direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with laws and hospital policies. The role emphasizes compassionate patient service, accurate documentation, and collaborative teamwork with the healthcare staff.

The position requires recent acute care or related experience, BLS certification, and completion of one of several nursing aide pathways.

Qualifications

• Ability to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to understand and follow directions of healthcare team.
• Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients and families.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-offs with pertinent information.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Fosters independence in patients and individualizes care.
