Job summary

Mercy Health's Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist who provides direct patient care under supervision, ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced behavioral health unit. The role supports vital sign checks, documentation, and patient comfort while collaborating with nurses and care teams to maintain a therapeutic environment.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• Licenses/certifications preferred: BLS, STNA, CNA, SWA, CDCA, Counselor in Training, HS-BCP, AAPT.
• 1 year of experience in a mental health or health care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality patient care, provides vital sign measurement, maintains patient hygiene, assists with mobility, and supports unit-based duties.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and share pertinent information.
• Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation for patient care.
• Completes patient rounding, 15-minute checks, and safety companion services as assigned.
• Collects patient data and completes patient screenings as applicable.
• Participates in continued education and in-service training.
