Job summary

GMH Grant Memorial Hospital seeks a Patient Care Technician to support licensed staff in direct and indirect patient care. You will aid in admissions, transfers, and daily patient needs, including vital signs, hygiene, and comfort measures, while maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma, BLS certification, and one of: nationally certified patient care technician, WVUM PCP program completion, or CNA certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one of: nationally certified patient care technician; WVUM Patient Care Technician program; CNA certification issued by state.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assists RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with hygiene and patient comfort; tracks intake/output.
• Assists in specimen collection and other patient activities.
• Maintains clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports equipment repairs as needed.
• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN and supports department operations.
• Answers patient call bells and relays messages.
