Job summary

Dupont-Hospital seeks a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff with basic patient care, data collection, and daily living activities at our Fort Wayne, IN location. You will work under RN/LPN supervision to ensure a safe, clean environment and effective communication within the care team.

The role emphasizes documentation, patient confidentiality, PPE usage, and collaboration in a fast-paced hospital setting. 0–2 years in acute care or nursing program enrollment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Collect and record patient data, including vitals, intake/output, and calories, reporting to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Support patients with meals, bathing, grooming, and mobility needs.
• Assist with positioning, ambulation, and use of mobility aids.
• Collect urine/stool samples and perform finger-stick blood glucose monitoring.
• Communicate patient information effectively to the care team.
• Maintain infection control practices and use PPE appropriately.
• Participate in performance improvement and risk management activities.
• Remain with patient for observation as required and perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies and standards.
