Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support nursing care under supervision. This role performs direct and indirect patient care, obtains vital signs, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, CNA or equivalent (e.g., Medical Assistant), and either two years of direct patient care experience or related education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and CNA or equivalent (e.g., Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, student nurse with clinical experience).
• Two years direct patient care experience OR education as stated above. All candidates must complete the Patient Care Associate Competency Based Training and practicum and unit-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and report vital signs as delegated by the RN.
• Assist in safe and efficient delivery of patient care through procedures and activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team addressing patient/family needs with cultural and individual sensitivity.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and staff; cover the BA desk as needed.
