Job summary

Visiting Angels Abilene, TX is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support seniors in the Big Country area. You will assist with everyday tasks, mobility, meal prep, and companionship, while contributing to a compassionate in-home care team.

This role offers part-time shifts including 8, 10, 12 hour options and PRN, with benefits such as health, dental, vision insurance, and weekly pay, plus ongoing training to grow in dementia or Alzheimer’s care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Ability to assist with mobility and daily activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, respectful and patient demeanor.
• Strong time management and reliability.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medications.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility.
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Help clients with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients.
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop.
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own.
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency.
