Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Nurse Aide to assist registered nurses in daily patient care at our Downers Grove facility. You will help with bathing, feeding, mobility, and monitoring vital signs, while documenting accurately in the EMR.

The role involves rounds, admissions/discharges support, and maintaining clean, stocked nursing areas. You will follow infection control policies, maintain patient safety, and provide age-appropriate care under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills required.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Strong organizational skills and prioritization.
• Hospital-based certification requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, hygiene, feeding and mobility.
• Record and document vital signs and intake/output in EMR.
• Perform rounding and communicate observations to RN.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges including room setup and belongings.
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing per approved processes.
• Handle errands, stock nursing area, and maintain equipment cleanliness.
• Support patient positioning and transfer while applying proper technique.
• Maintain skin integrity with repositioning and care; manage supplies and devices.
• Assist with post mortem care and IV removal as directed by RN.
• Follow infection prevention policies and aseptic techniques.
• Provide patient age-appropriate care per department standards.
