Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at UHS Wilson Medical Center. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, vital signs, and intake/output while collaborating with the RN to ensure safety and quality care.

This per diem role offers flexible, as-needed shifts assigned by the manager, with duties including documenting care, rounding, and supporting unit operations in a fast-paced acute care

Qualifications

• BLS certification (may be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Vocational Diploma/Certificate in Nurse Aide studies (Preferred).
• NYSDOH Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential (Preferred).
• Up to 1 year of related experience in a role with transferable skills.
• Up to 1 year of healthcare experience in the healthcare industry in any job function.
• Up to 1 year of experience in the same work environment or setting (hospital, practice, department/division).
• Up to 1 year of customer/patient-facing experience directly interacting and communicating with the public.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care and ADLs under the direction of the RN to support comfort, dignity, and safety.
• Assist with nutrition and hydration needs by opening containers, cutting food, or feeding patients as directed by the RN.
• Record clinical data in the EHR (vital signs, weight, intake/output) and communicate changes to the RN.
• Support safe mobility, ambulation, positioning, and transfers to promote comfort and prevent complications.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient care environment with rounding, responding to call lights, and ensuring supplies/support.
• Document patient care activities and observations per unit guidelines.
• Perform Unit Secretary and clerical duties when assigned to keep operations running smoothly.
