Job summary

Advocate Health - Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago seeks a Nursing Assistant for the MICCU/Med Surg unit. You will assist the RN with daily patient care, including bathing, feeding, positioning and ambulation, and document vital signs in the EMR.

You will support admission, transfer and discharge activities and help with specimen collection and routine tasks. The role requires at least 2 years of hospital experience preferred, BLS within 45 days, and a GED/HSED or high school

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
• Certification Addendum.
• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I&O, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR.
• Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations and needs to RN.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Cleans equipment and work areas and maintains stock for nursing area.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties.
• Maintains skin integrity and uses TED hose and sequential compression devices.
